Theory and Practice - Sometimes nothing works and no one knows why

I love the moment of discovery, when something unimaginable springs into being.

 

Sometimes frustration or seeming failure is the catalyst for something better.

 

With that in mind, I saw something that made me smile.  Here it is.

 

Theory is when you know everything, but nothing works.

Practice is when everything works, but no one knows why.

Sometimes, however, theory and practice are combined ... that's when nothing works and no one knows why.

Putting Things in Perspective: Visualization Shows Scale of the Universe

As a trader, I'm surprised by how different the market can look on different time-frames. 

Getting a sense of scale is important.  Sometimes the difference is bigger than you think.

Click the picture to launch a fascinating data visualisation created by Michael and Cary Huang.  It is an interactive virtual scale of our universe that allows you to zoom in and out through space comparing the size and scale of everything from the smallest particles to immense nebulae.

This Kid's Got Game - Have You Heard About Caine's Arcade Yet?

Hopefully you've had a chance to watch the video about Caine's Arcade. If not, here it is.

What's it about?  Well, a 9-year-old boy, Caine Monroy, built an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad's used auto parts store. And while the arcade is about fun, there's no doubt that it is serious business for Caine.  Of course, it is about more than that.

It is inspiring, heart-warming ... and worth a few minutes of your time.
